Born
in 1958 at a remote village known as Tapting in the Everest region of Solukhumbu
where many high altitude mountaineering sherpas live. Not coming from a Sherpa
family which normally worked for renowned Western, European and South-East Asian
trekkers and Mountaineers, Dendi, nevertheless dashed out at a young age looking
for a job in a trekking company in Kathmandu. Despite lack of a formal education
beside village tutorials by older teachers, Dendi luckily met the kingpin of the
trekking business of the time, Mr. Michael John Cheney - a rare breed of the British
Arny who loved Nepal and its people.

He managed his firm called 'Sherpa Co-operative Trekking (P) Ltd." which
was one of the most reputed and successful companies in Kathmandu under the strictguidance
and training of Mike Cheney, Dendi was turned into a refined Sherpa Guide . Dendi
had a difficult but a productive time which turned him into a professional trekking
guide which was so close to his heart. He worked for 12 years with Mike Cheney.
He led numerous groups from USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South
East Asia on short and long treks throughout the Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal. He
still remembers the Stanford University, California, USA which was led by Ms.
Barbara Butterworth who happened to be of American Women's Himalayan Expedition,
Trek-B leader, Mr. S.D.Kolloff and his party from Australia, Mr. R.G.A. Taylor
and his party from New Zealand Army group, Mr. Bouthillier's family group from
University of Ottawa Canada, Mr. Malcolm Eaves group, Mr. Skipper Krum group from
Europe and Mr. Nigel Fletcher group from South-East Asia.
Mr. Ang Dendi
has on record of their appreciative references, which highlight Dendi's personal
success as a Senior trek guide and a good manager and also as an excellent organizer
of treks, tours & Mountaineering Expeditions. And also worked as a General
Secretary of "Trekking Worker's Association of Nepal" from 1983 to 1990.
Then after looking for further reward in trekking adventure, he joined Zenith
Trekking (P) Ltd. where he was appointed as a manager and trek leader. During
his next 10 years he traversed east, west and north of the country. He enjoyed
trekking with almost all age groups, whether young children or older slow hikers.
However, he prefers younger generations who are demanding and want to know more
of Nepal and Himalayan wilderness.
